When it comes to Christianity you have 3 choices.

3 doors,  3 options, 3 belief systems.  2 that believe in authority.  Another one that does not.  3-doors-to-a-registered-trademark[1]

This sums it up:

Many years ago there came to Salt Lake City a learned doctor of divinity, a member of the Roman Catholic Church. I became well acquainted with him, and we conversed freely and frankly. A great scholar, with perhaps a dozen, languages at his tongue’s end, he seemed to know all about theology, law, literature, science and philosophy, and was never weary of displaying his vast erudition. One day he said to me: “You Mormons are all ignoramuses. You don’t even know the strength of your own position. It is so strong that there is only one other tenable in the whole Christian world, and that is the position of the Catholic Church. The issue is between Catholicism and Mormonism. If we are right, you are wrong; if you are right, we are wrong; and that’s all there is to it. The Protestants haven’t a leg to stand on. If we are wrong, they are wrong with us, for they were a part of us and went out from us; while if we are right, they are apostates whom we cut off long ago. If we really have, as we claim, the apostolic succession from St. Peter, there was no need for Joseph Smith and Mormonism; but if we have not that succession, then such a man as Joseph Smith was necessary, and Mormonism’s attitude is the only consistent one. It is either the perpetuation of the Gospel from ancient times, or the restoration of the Gospel in latter days.”

The Catholic theologian’s name is John M. Reiner.  peter_edited-1

This is the original statue of Peter created by Bertel Thorvaldsen.  It can be found in Denmark along with all the other 11 apostles.

Peter is talked about in the bible as holding the keys of the Priesthood.  The Catholic’s believe that Peter was given the authority. Mormon’s understand that Peter was given 1. Priesthood power  to run the Church. and 2. Revelation to get direction from Jesus himself.  Here are the verses:  Matthew 18:

13 ¶ When Jesus came into the coasts of Cæsarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, aElias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say aye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the aChrist, the bSon of the cliving God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon aBar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not brevealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this arock I will build my bchurch; and the gates of chellshall not dprevail against it.  (the rock of revelation)

19 And I will agive unto thee the bkeys of the ckingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt dbind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.  (sealing power)

The protestants= well they protested from the Catholic’s and now there are many, many, many types of church’s.    Some go to a secular school giving them the worlds authority.  Some just having “faith” and believe that is enough to be a preacher.  (read the poem on the faith link.

You owe it to yourself to find out which one has the true authority.  Only 1 door will get you where you want to go.   Here’s a Bible Video about Christ’s authority being challenged.
